At InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort we are looking for an Apprentice Chef (1st or 2nd Year) to join our team.


Your day to day


Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will be a motivated person with a positive attitude who has an interest in becoming a qualified chef. We have an exceptional culinary team that will be able to train and develop you while you complete your formal commercial cookery qualification. 


You will be involved daily in the preparation and production of cuisine for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner services across the resort's culinary operation, giving you exposure to banqueting, a la carte, bistro, fine dining and bar service styles.


This role encompasses all the normal things you would expect from such a role; an opportunity to focus on the product and let your ingredient knowledge, creativity and culinary skills shine. You’ll partner with the wider culinary team to deliver delights across the resort's venues, corporate functions and special events.


What we need from you


You’ll be charismatic, creative, and passionate about exceeding guest’s culinary expectations and playing a key role within the Kitchen Brigade - this is your opportunity to work in this unique environment and fast-track your career. 


Our passionate culinary team must have:



  • Take pride in preparing and producing high-quality food according to standard recipes

  • Support the Kitchen team in delivering the highest level of guest satisfaction

  • Experience in a cooking environment, or be a passionate foodie looking to commence your culinary career

  • Strong communication skills

  • Good attention to detail and effective time management

  • Be available to work a mixture of shifts including days, nights, weekends and/or public holidays


This opportunity is for someone who will be committed to both work and study, as you work towards the completion of a Certificate III of Commercial Cookery. All applicants must meet the legal requirements to work in Australia.
