PHE is expanding our Apprenticeship teams and looking for a 3rd/4th Year Electrical Apprentice to join our team on a full-time basis. If you've already started your apprenticeship and have been wanting to get into the high voltage industry this is a perfect learning platform for you.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the installation, termination, and commissioning of HV equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and protection relays.
- Conduct HV testing procedures, including primary and secondary injection testing, insulation resistance testing, earth grid testing, and partial discharge testing under supervision.
- Support HV cable testing, splicing, and jointing, ensuring compliance with Australian standards and best practices.
- Gain hands-on experience with relay programming, testing, and configuration using industry standard software.
- Follow Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), complete JSEAs, and comply with HV auditing and electrical safety regulations in Queensland.
- Assist in pre-commissioning and testing services for HV infrastructure
- Support the preparation of test reports, commissioning records, and risk registers for HV projects.
ABOUT YOU:
- Currently enrolled as a 3rd or 4th Year Electrical Apprentice with a focus on High Voltage systems.
- Willingness to gain knowledge and understanding of the electrical industrial industry, specifically High Voltage systems
- Good attention to detail, punctual and presentable at all times
- Great communication and mathematical skills
- Can show initiative to resolve problems and technical aptitude
- Communicate and work effectively in a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the ability to create and manage documentation
- Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and compliance requirements
- Familiarity of Australian standards
- Commitment to safety, continuous learning, and teamwork
- Brisbane-based apprenticeship - must be willing to work FIFO when required
Qualifications Required
- General Construction White Card
- Already completed your second year of your Apprenticeship
- Manual P1-Class Driver’s License or above
Would be highly regarded:
- High-risk work Licence EWP over 11mt
- Working at Heights (Completed in the last 18 months)
- Current CPR/LVR (within the last 9 months)
- Experience in High Voltage electrical work, including switchgear, protection relays and HV cable testing
- Basic experience with HV test equipment, omicron, and relay testing equipment
