1st Year Apprentice Roofer

About the Opportunity CCGT is seeking a motivated 1st Year Roof Tiling Apprentice to join a professional roofing crew working on large-scale residential projects.

This is a full-time apprenticeship where you will be employed and supported by Central Coast Group Training (CCGT) while completing a nationally recognised Certificate III in Roof Tiling through TAFE NSW – Quakers Hill.

Most work will be based on Sydney worksites, with occasional jobs on the Central Coast and in Newcastle. This role is suited to someone who enjoys physical, outdoor work, is comfortable working at heights and is keen to learn a hands-on trade in tile roofing.

The apprenticeship term is 36 months, with a full-time roster of 38 hours per week. Typical hours are 7:00am to 3:06pm, Monday to Friday, with possible RDOs.


You will be supported throughout your apprenticeship while learning practical roof tiling skills on the job.
Your duties may include:

• Mixing mud and preparing roofing materials
• Heavy tile lifting and loading elevators
• Moving tools and materials around site
• Using a nail gun and other roofing tools safely
• Standing up battens
• Working on roofs up to two storeys high
• Completing general ground work and site clean-up
• Following workplace health and safety procedures

This is a physical, outdoor role that involves heavy lifting, working at heights, working in different weather conditions and regular travel to Sydney worksites.


We are looking for someone who is fit, reliable and ready to learn from experienced roofers.

To be considered, you will need:

• A genuine interest in starting a trade
• Good physical fitness and confidence with heavy lifting
• Comfort working outdoors in different weather conditions
• Confidence working at heights of up to two storeys
• Strong work ethic and willingness to follow direction
• Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team
• WHS White Card
• P-Plates as a minimum
• Your own reliable vehicle, as regular travel to Sydney sites is essential
