About the Role
As an Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic / Auto Electrician, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience working on a diverse range of heavy vehicles, including the latest Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and Electric Vehicle (EV) technology. Working alongside experienced industry professionals, you’ll develop the technical skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to build a successful career in the commercial transport industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with mechanical repairs and servicing, including engines, hydraulics, electrical, and braking systems, under supervision
- Work on heavy vehicles (ICE/EV), learning how to maintain and repair sustainable, eco-friendly vehicles
- Learn to read electrical and hydraulic schematics with guidance
- Participate in test-driving vehicles after repairs to ensure safety, under supervision
- Accurately record work hours for each repair task
- Always maintain a professional appearance
- Support and follow sustainability practices in the workplace
- Develop time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
- Communicate clearly and politely with customers and colleagues
- Follow health and safety regulations to ensure a safe work environment
- Help with general maintenance as directed by the Supervisor
- Any other duties as required by the Supervisor
About You
- A keen interest in mechanics/electrical and a genuine interest in Electric vehicles and sustainability
- Team players eager to learn and grow with industry experts
- Problem-solvers ready to take on challenges in the heavy vehicle sector
- You may have already completed part of your apprenticeship and would like to continue
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable operating across multiple sites
- Computer literacy and experience using workshop management systems such as Pentana or similar
